IDrive Online Backup App Reviews

I never used iDrive because it wouldnt function correctly on my PC so I set a reminder to cancel iDrive on the day my account ended so Id have enough time to transfer all my files that actually transferred to iDrive to an external drive. I just so happened to cancel only 7 minutes after the charge went through and when I called they said something to the extent "sorry, not sorry, we wont refund you after the account has been charged," and they were pretty rude about it. So I was charged a full years service, $150, for zero days of actual use. Thanks iDrive, I hope that extra $150 is worth a bad review. Thats the last time Ill use a company advertised by Rush.

I like this service. Easy to use compared with some big players in cloud storage.

Had to retrieve some pics someone deleted from my phone. Glad I signed up for this a while back. Was able to get the pics restored in seconds.

Works well . I have 3 pcs , plus my Apple products, and all are backed up with iDrive. I couldnt be more pleased.

I popped for their introductory special which included 1TB online and a local 1TB wifi/usb3 attach local drive ... It gives me full control on what I want to back up remotely on my MacBook, as well as percentage of system and network bandwidth to archive it offsite. As a guy with > 20 years UNIX development experience, I appreciate the control The iOS app leaves something to be desired as it is more of an all or nothing. But I worked around that by configuring my MBP to do full backups of my phone over wifi. Then I just let the iOS app push new content like pictures automatically when I am not able to sync to my Mac Hint ... If you get their external wifi disk, just attach to your USB port ( it does run at usb3 speed if you have support) Then use disk utility to blow all their code away and format for time machine. This gives you a FAST full local backup of everything you have on your Mac and iOS devices. Then with their offsite backup you are protected against everything except human error Basically ... Just buy this product and your data is protected

I did not get this product but had their lite product (it was free and simple to use and I was actually content until in having.....well unril the day you actually need it) they are leaving customers with the free app out to dry when they created this app which of course you have to pay for. They did not even notify customers that the free app was no longer maintained or even stop the app from working giving user a false sense that it was working. I found out the hard way when got a new phone and tried to restore contacts and it did not work...so was in the dog house with wife because her contacts were all gone. I contacted customer support and their answer was app is no longer maintained. When I questioned why at least a notification to the user that app is no longer maintained and not to use it or get their new app, they just directed me to their pay app. Well that does not get the contacts back that I thought was restored. I told them that they its not that responsible and their answer was what do you expect from a free app Well if that is the character and image that this company has, then I can just imagine what this product will be like. The more i thought about many carriers, apple and amazon offer free storage, so this is not worth it...the fact that there arent many reviews should be a clue...

Would have been five stars but it is painfully slow to upload. I realize they have a mail your hard drive backup service for large backups but I want to utilize online. I have 75mb upload speed do the files should fly there.

I have iDrove to back up all my different devices (home computer, work computer, iPad and iPhones). The backup for the computers works really well and is very smooth. The apps dont work well at all. The "auto backup" of photos and videos isnt auto at all. You have to open the app and leave it open for it to back up. And its insanely slow for videos. I left my phone on and the app open overnight to upload 10 two minute videos. And no, Im not on dial up, its a 75mbps connection. And once your photos are on iDrive its a bizarre user experience to find them in the app. The dates are wrong, sometimes theyre in newly uploaded folder, sometimes theyre not. Its just weird. I wish I had just paid for iCloud.

Very good backup app. Easy to use and it has saved me from loosing a lot of photos. Highly recommend it.

Not working for me, not what I expected. Have not found a way to cancel the service.

This is so much easier than backing up to an external drive -- and more secure, as we all know that hardware loves to conk out on you from time to time. I installed on my laptop and iDrive automagically backs up all new activity overnight. The mobile app is great, too -- especially because iCloud Drive costs just as much (if not more) for a 1-year plan. The only hitch is that on the iOS version, it will pause your backups if you go into another app. But that may be because of my non-multitasking Verizon iPhone. Im not sure. At any rate, GREAT product and customer service. If you have a large amount of data to back up, like several external hard drives, they mail you storage drives that you can transfer your data to locally rather than waiting hours or days to upload all the data to the cloud. They even gave me one for my Mac and one for my PC. They also give you packaging and free return postage to send the drives back, fully loaded. Pricing was VERY reasonable and I was able to get a 2-year deal for barely more than Id have paid for 1 year. If youve been on the fence about which cloud service to use, this one is tops in my book!

This backup program has been a problem from the start. When it first did a backup of my main house computer it did not do a full backup but did a pick and choose mostly of my profile. I had paid extra to have an external drive sent to me to do this initial backup to. As for our iPhones it just does photos, videos, documents and contacts. What about music??? If you have an iPhone I bet you have music on it. I just got an iPhone 6S and it didnt ever finish the first backup, I have left the phone connected to external power for a full half day and it still says it has done 44 of 50 files. Very bad experience with this program.

I downloaded the app and bought a 300gig annual subscription. I use it on my iPhone, my wifes iPhone and my iPad. The first backup took well over a week on EACH device. This is because theres no way to override the app pausing all of the time. Its slow and clunky. Needs a serious overhaul to be even slightly competitive with other services. After using the app for some time now, and going thru many more versions, its still clunky and hard to use. The pausing all of the time makes enapp utterly useless.

Im so bored with this software, i dont know who is ur programming ur softwares, from the iphone 5 i have bought ur service and i have never been satisfied with ur software, the backup that automatically backups files, doesnt lets u move files !, the backup is so slow, everytime I try to upload pictures in folder always ur software block in last pic uploading, and even if u close restart phone, that pictures is blocked there and never backed up. Please do a litle bit ur software like, dropbox, or lile drive.

I got the app in May, and it downloaded quick enough, and says that Iam backup.... I the coming few days I am planing to upgrade to a new phone... Ve shall see, vhat ve shall see! No!

I think it would be better if the app would backup while running in the background instead of having to run while app is open.

I gave a bad review before for the continuous crashes i kept getting from the app. However, the app does what it suppose to do. Back up photos and videos from camera roll.
